The Well Girl Protocol

The most important thing I’ve learned on my journey to better health is that our body has the remarkable ability to heal itself. We just have to let it! The Well Girl lifestyle centers around the following 6 elements that have been fundamental in my path to wellness:

Nutrition

Food has definitely been my medicine. Many people struggle with this area due to all the fad diet noise out there but to me it’s all about eating in a way that is sustainable long term! This includes eating whole foods, eliminating those pesky culprits that cause inflammation in the body and eating the right amount of the right foods so you get all the nutrients you need to feel awesome! I am not about spending all my time in the kitchen either. You can count on me for super easy recipes and batch cooking hacks!

Movement

When I noticed my standing posture starting to emulate that of me sitting hunched over my laptop, I realized it was time for a change. As a generation, we have become way too sedentary and it’s seriously harming our well-being. I know when you’re not feeling your best, exercise can seem like a daunting task. However, I am not talking about running a marathon or becoming a heavy weight. Just begin to incorporate some consistent movement in your life and I guarantee you’ll start feeling like you want to dance!

Sleep

Sleep?! What’s sleep?! I did not know the meaning of the word. Your body knows, trust me! The body needs a certain amount of good quality sleep in order to heal, repair and balance bodily processes. You may not see the detrimental impact of lack of sleep immediately but overtime interrupting your body’s natural way of healing can lead to some serious health problems.

Mindset & De-Stressing

I used to think the whole idea of conquering stress and using mindset to address my health issues was a bunch of voodoo. I slowly realized how much of a draining effect worry and negativity was having on my body. It’s only until you figure out a way to consistently and effectively manage stress and live with a positive mindset that you’ll truly be able to feel your best.

 Non-Toxic

We’re exposed to more chemicals now than ever before through environmental pollution, our homes, personal care products and food. Poisons such as lead, formaldehyde, benzene, mercury, BPA, phthalates and pesticides, accumulate in our bodies and it’s reflected in our health and the way we feel on a daily basis. Creators of these chemicals and companies that use them claim that the amount used in consumer products is so minor that it’s not harmful to our health. But let me ask you this, if it’s in everything we use, every second of every day, how is our exposure so minor? We need to wake up and decide for ourselves!

Natural Healing

As the list of illnesses and diagnoses grows larger every year, so does the use of antibiotics and prescription drugs. Most of these drugs either weaken our immunity or result in side effects that create more health problems. That’s why I am a big fan of using natural remedies and healing techniques, such as essential oils, grounding and lymphatic drainage, whenever possible!
